First Steps and Beyond provides the environment and setting for our children to excel in their early learning years and personal development.

About First Steps & Beyond

Fourteen years ago, October 1, 2010, we opened our doors with 2 children in our Pre - Kinders program. Within the next two years the enrolment grew to 32 and it was time to move to a larger location. This new location is our present home. Its size has permitted us to increase our programming options and accept more children. Eleven years ago, we proudly added our Enhanced Kinders - Plus Program. Positive feedback on our curriculum and parental requests convinced us it was the perfect time for the next step in our expansion. In June 2016, we reached yet another milestone in our growth. First Steps & Beyond received its designation of a Registered Private School from Alberta Education. This designation meant the addition of grades to our programs. In 2023, our grades and Kinders-Plus moved under a different name - First Steps Elementary Academy. Pre-School and Pre-Kinders still operate under First Steps & Beyond Daycare.

Small Class Sizes – Pre-School and Pre - Kinders run at a ratio of 1:8. Your child receives daily personal instructional time and enriched and challenging learning experiences. It is all about superior education in superior learning environments.

Higher standards for academic performance – We want to see all of our children do their personal best in their work and personal growth.  Age appropriate literacy, numeracy, social and work skills and fine/gross motors activities are incorporated into each class every day. 

​

Higher expectations for conduct – The fundamentals on which we establish our expectations for conduct are: acceptance and tolerance of each other, respect for others and self, and a  responsible attitude. We work on establishing independence. These traits are vital in promoting pride in one’s personal accomplishments.

Safe Environment - Our centre is a safe place for students to identify who they are.  We purport higher standards of discipline and respect that will build a strong sense of community improving your child's educational experiences and achievement.

Culture -  Establishing values, building character, allowing individualism, achievement and supporting tolerance and knowledge.

“This is Zackary’s first year at First Steps and Beyond. He is our first child to attend this program and he won’t be the last. I am truly happy that I did my research and chose this school. The small class size and the opportunity to learn in a safe and caring environment were the primary reasons we chose this Pre-K class. The teachers are really involved, the school is clean and safe and Zack can’t wait to get to school each day! Music with Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Stasyk is by far far his favourite part of the day. He is constantly coming home and singing me the songs that he learned in class. I have already noticed that Zack is recognizing more letters than before. He is rhyming words and getting so much better with his counting. Zack also enjoys science, from learning about planets to making goop and science projects outside. He loved learning about the arctic, igloos and penguins. I am amazed at the rate of his learning. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the school year brings.”
